PLYMPTON, Mass. —

A Massachusetts State Police trooper is out on bail after being arrested on charges including assault and battery of a child.

Trooper Michael Gagnon of Plympton was arrested at his home on Nov. 25, according to a statement from the Plympton Police Department. Police said the arrest came after an investigation conducted by the Plymouth County district attorney's office.

Gagnon was charged with domestic assault and battery and aggravated assault on a child under age 14.

Court records show that Gagnon was arraigned and entered a not guilty plea on Nov. 26.

According to police, bail was set at $1,000.

Gagnon posted bail and was released on Nov. 26, police said.

The next scheduled court hearing is a pretrial hearing set for Jan. 12, records show.
