An Ingleside man was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a train, according to Lake County authorities.
The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. The man, 22, was trapped under the train and had to be extricated by firefighters.
He was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.
The commuter train had left the Ingleside station and was en route to Fox Lake when it hit the man near Rollins Road, Metra spokesperson Meg Riele said.
The incident remains under investigation.
