HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KAKE) - Kansas health officials have issued a stream advisory for the MS Mitch Mitchell Floodway in Haysville due to a sewage overflow.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Tuesday afternoon that the advisory includes the floodway from east of the South Seneca bridge to the confluence with the Arkansas River.

"The stream advisory is the result of a sanitary sewer overflow in Haysville," the KDHE said in a release. "The City is correcting the issues."

The release said the advisory was issued due to potential elevated levels of E.coli bacteria and other contaminants may be present in the floodway. The KDHE advises residents to stay away from the waterway.
