Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — Great Smoky Mountain National Park officials said a popular road in the park will close Tuesday evening due to weather conditions.

Newfound Gap Road will close at 5 p.m. due to the weather. Both directions of travel will be closed. The park announced the closure on social media Tuesday afternoon.

It's unclear when the road could reopen.
