NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - At least eight people died while on the roads over the Thanksgiving holiday in Tennessee, according to the state.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDSHS) released preliminary data Tuesday reporting the fatalities, saying they happened in collisions in McNairy, Shelby, Franklin, Marion, Washington, Wilson and Williamson Counties.
That is the same number of fatalities the state saw during the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday travel period as well.
State troopers also responded to more than 900 calls for help from motorists. In total, the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated 243 wrecks with injuries and 566 crashes with property damage, according to the press release.
