MERRYVILLE, La. (KPLC) - After a Merryville police officer was arrested and fired for allegedly raping a young girl for several years, Merryville officials say they are consulting with the town attorney for further action.
In late October, a Merryville High School student told a school resource officer that Steven Thomas Davis, 29, sexually assaulted her from 2019 to 2025, Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford said.
On Oct. 29, BPSO told the Merryville Police Department that Davis, who was an active MPD officer at the time, was being investigated for the allegations, Merryville Police Chief Cindy Brister said.
“Due to the seriousness of the complaint, Officer Davis was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” Brister said.
