A dedicated mother was identified as the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash that shut down part of the New York State Thruway in Albany.
Montgomery County resident Braylynn Fahy, 30, of Fort Plain, died Monday, Dec. 1, when her SUV was struck by another SUV on westbound I-90 near Exit 24, according to New York State Police.
A preliminary investigation found that Fahy’s Chevrolet Traverse merged onto the westbound Thruway from the Exit 24 on-ramp. She then crossed all westbound lanes and was hit by a Cadillac Escalade traveling in the left lane, as Daily Voice reported.
Fahy was taken to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
All passengers in both vehicles — including the other adult and three minors in Fahy’s SUV, along with the four adults in the Escalade — were hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, police said.
Northbound traffic was briefly diverted off Exit 24 as Troop T and Troop G’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation worked the scene late Monday. The investigation remains ongoing.
Tributes Pour In
Friends and relatives began posting tributes online as news of Fahy’s death spread.
“There is absolutely no world where I imagined sharing these simple family photos with such a heavy heart," photographer Ashleigh Amber wrote on Facebook. "Braylynn was the kindest soul and always put her family first.”
Another friend, Angela Frederick, said her heart was broken over the news. “Someone make damn sense of this crap! I do not understand why the world is so freaking cruel!” she wrote. “Braylynn your heart, love, laughter touched so many people.”
Additional details about Fahy’s life were not immediately available. Loved ones are invited to share a statement, funeral details, and/or photos by emailing mmashburn@dailyvoice.com.
