A Lacombe woman was arrested and jailed Monday on animal cruelty counts after multiple injured, dead and malnourished dogs were found in her house, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
Kathleen Leatherman, 57, was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on four counts of simple animal cruelty and four counts of aggravated animal cruelty, according to the jail roster, which indicated a bond has not yet been set.
Deputies were called to Leatherman’s house in the 60000 block of S. Pontchartrain Drive Monday after receiving a report of a dog not being properly cared for, Sheriff’s Office officials said.
There, deputies found four malnourished dogs, two dogs with significant injuries and the bodies of two dead dogs, the Sheriff's Office said in a press release
