Former Vice President Mike Pence showed his support for Costco after the retail giant sued the Trump administration for a refund of the tariffs it has paid on imported goods.

“American companies and American consumers pay the cost of American tariffs,” Pence wrote Monday in a post on X . “Free trade with free nations.”

Costco, the nation’s third-largest retailer, filed a lawsuit with the Court of International Trade last week.

In its filing, the company challenged President Donald Trump’s authority to set tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act , or IEEPA. Costco is seeking a “full refund” of duties collected, arguing that Trump exceeded his authority to implement sweeping tariffs on more than 100 countries.
