A teaser trailer for James McAvoy's directorial debut has been unveiled ahead of the film's official release next year. The trailer for California Schemin' by StudioCanal, was dropped on Tuesday, December 2. ‌

The film follows the true story of aspiring Scottish rap duo Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd, known as Silibil N' Brains , and is set for release in UK and Ireland cinemas on April 10, 2026. ‌

The pair, from Dundee, posed as Californian hip hop artists in 2001 in order to secure a record deal. Amazingly, they were successful and kept up their lies for many years, securing a Sony record deal. ‌
