“Full House” actor Dave Coulier announced he has been diagnosed with tongue cancer just months after beating non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Coulier, 66, shared the news on the “Today” show Tuesday, describing the diagnosis as a “shock to the system.” The actor said doctors confirmed the tongue cancer is unrelated to his previous illness.
“This is a new cancer. I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’” Coulier stated.
Doctors told Coulier the cancer could stem from an HPV virus acquired up to 30 years ago that may have “activated and turned into a carcinoma.” The actor said the cancer is “very treatable” with a “90 percent curability rate.”
“The doctor said the prognosis is good, but we’re going to start radiation immediately,” he told viewers.
