A case of suspected live hand grenades and other explosives were found inside an Olalla home under renovation on Monday, Dec. 1.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office reported that the owners of a home in the 11000 block of Olalla Valley Road called 911 and reported that contractors working on the house had discovered a case of explosives. Olalla Valley Road was closed to traffic while deputies, Washington State Patrol’s bomb technicians and an explosive ordnance team from the Navy's Submarine Base Bangor investigated the scene.
KCSO said ten grenades containing TNT, some blasting caps and other explosive devices were recovered. The grenades are believed to be military issue and were taken by the Naval team. The other explosives were secured and removed by WSP.
