ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Peachtree City man has been sentenced for his role in a Medicare fraud conspiracy, according to the Department of Justice.
Patrick Moore Jr., 48, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States in May. He will spend 46 months in prison and pay more than $7.2 million in restitution, the department announced on Tuesday.
Moore operated a network of recruiters who persuaded Medicare recipients to undergo unnecessary genetic testing. According to the Justice Department, he then received about $4.3 million in kickbacks and bribes from co-conspirators for referring insurance information and other data, which he used to pay the recruiters.
