A 70-year-old Utica man is being held on a $500,000 bond after he was arrested for allegedly stabbing someone in his apartment, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Joseph Vanker was arraigned Nov. 25 in 41A District Court in Shelby Township before Magistrate Christopher Alayan on a felony charge of assault with intent to murder. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said Utica police were dispatched to Vanker’s apartment Nov. 25 to conduct a welfare check. Someone had called 911 and hung up when a dispatcher answered.
Officers found the victim suffering with stab wounds requiring immediate medical attention, prosecutors said in a news release. Vanker was arrested for stabbing the victim multiple times.
