CLEVELAND — The $100 million stadium settlement agreement between the Haslam Sports Group (HSG) and the city of Cleveland is now officially approved — and Mayor Justin Bibb says it’s time to shift from frustration to forward momentum.
Cleveland City Council voted Monday night to approve an amended version of the settlement, which resolves all litigation tied to the Browns’ decision to move from downtown to a new domed stadium in Brook Park. While Bibb says he’s still disappointed the team is leaving the lakefront, he believes the deal positions the city for a new era of development.
"While I continue to be frustrated and sad, the Browns are leaving playing good or bad football on our lakefront, now it's time to turn the page," Bibb said.
