City of Fort Wayne sends reminders as trash collection crews navigate snow

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A spokesperson for the City of Fort Wayne has sent a list of reminders for residents as crews with the city’s solid waste department navigate snow-covered roads.

Icy and snowy streets and alleyways are difficult for crews in larger GFL trucks to maneuver through, Fort Wayne Public Works spokesperson Natalie Eggeman says.

When a truck can’t get through an alley or street for collection, Eggeman says they send a request to the street department to clear the area so they can return to collect the next day.

Eggeman says the department asks residents to please be patient as they work to provide service as quickly as they can.
