Brigitte Bardot is shedding light on her mental health struggles.
In a new project detailing her life, the French star, 91, opened up about dealing with depression.
Bardot attempted suicide numerous times in her youth. However, on one occasion, something miraculous happened, she told The Times of London Tuesday.
“I was taking my own life, and I was saved by a miracle,” the actress said.
Bardot explained that being viewed as a sex symbol in the ’60s caused her inner turmoil.
“Every morning I wake up, and I am sad,” she admitted.
Along with being an icon in the ’50s and ’60s, Bardot starred in movies such as 1956’s “And God Created Woman,” 1960’s “The Truth” and 1965’s “Viva Maria!”
The icon also reflected on her legacy.
