PITTSBURGH —

Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash shut down a portion of East Carson Street for nearly two hours early Tuesday morning.

In a post from Baldwin Fire Rescue, officials were called to East Carson Street shortly after 4 a.m. following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officials said all occupants were able to make it out of their vehicles on their own. Two people were taken to the hospital for observation.

The post said at 5:40 a.m., East Carson Street was reopened in both directions.

While crews were waiting for tow trucks before the road reopening, units were requested following reports of a public works truck catching fire along Route 51.
