WEST HAVEN, CT. (WFSB) - West Haven police will provide an update Wednesday about the status of an officer that was removed from duty due to using excessive force.

The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. at police headquarters on Sawmill Road.

Police Chief Joseph Perno will be holding the news conference.

The officer was reported by another officer for use of excessive force and was immediately removed from duty, put on leave, and turned over to the state’s attorney’s office.

The department has applied for the officer’s decertification.
