CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Heights Fire Department responded to a house fire on Sylvanhurst Road Monday that resulted in the death of two dogs.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they encountered a heavy fire, but were able to get it under control after much effort.

According to a release, three dogs were reported in the house, and two were trapped in kennels.

One dog was rescued by the fire crew, but unfortunately the two trapped did not survive.

No residents were at the home and no firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the release.
