CLEVELAND — A former Christian missionary from Holmes County who previously pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse now faces federal charges for alleged similar crimes in Haiti.
A grand jury on Tuesday indicted 44-year-old Jeriah Mast, of Millersburg, on charges of attempted and actual engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place. According to the Department of Justice, Mast traveled from the United States to Haiti more than 30 times between 2002 and 2019 and abused minors on at least four occasions — once in 2004, once in 2007, and twice in 2011.
"As alleged, this defendant traveled abroad to commit heinous, unspeakable crimes against vulnerable children living in an impoverished nation," Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the DOJ's Criminal Division said
