Seven Springs Mountain Resort announced it will be opening for the winter season this weekend.

The resort says it will officially open for the season on Saturday with an opening day celebration that will include a live DJ, cookies, hot cocoa, and more. Prizes will be given out to the first chair riders.

"We're all super stoked," said Seven Springs Mountain Resort General Manager Brett Cook. "Starting the season off here in early December is what we wish for every year."

Early Friday morning, Seven Springs' operations team was out getting the slopes ready for guests on opening day.

Cook said the resort typically opens for the season on a Friday, but this year's opening day has been moved to a Saturday due to the current cold conditions allowing for better snowmaking.
