10th Annual Wanchese Christmas Parade—Hot Chocolate, Stuffed Animals and the Grinch
By Kip Tabb | Outer Banks Voice
With dozens of cars, floats, trucks, and other vehicles—and of course, Santa Claus and The Grinch—the 10th Annual Wanchese Christmas Parade wound its way through the back streets of the community on Saturday, Nov. 29.
George Etheridge, the organizer and the force behind the parade, had grown up with a Christmas parade every year in the village, but, as he told the Voice, “Getting volunteers is always a problem.” And the first incarnation of the event, he said, went away “15 or 20 years ago.”
Determined to bring back the magic, he and his wife, Jill, called the folks who put the original parade on, but they realized if it was going to happen, they had to do it themselves.
