Gov. Ron DeSantis says Florida will establish a “far-reaching artificial intelligence bill of rights” during next year’s Legislative Session in an effort to counter what he says could be an “age of darkness and deceit” without action.
“What we’re doing is things that are going to make sure that we put Floridians first, that we look out for our own people and not just have people get harmed by this rush to create data centers, a rush to try to infuse everything with artificial intelligence without sufficient guardrails,” DeSantis said.
The tech-skeptic Governor blasted so-called “AI exceptionalism,” making the case that states like Florida should have the right to regulate the fast-growing technology, while arguing that data centers and government subsidies are nonstarters.
