Former Florida coach Billy Napier may not be out of a job for too much longer.
According to a report from 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, Napier has emerged as a "person of interest" in the search at James Madison. Though that job hasn't officially opened, head coach Bob Chesney is widely reported to have accepted the UCLA job.
It would be a return to the Sun Belt for Napier, who was the coach at Louisiana from 2018 to 2021 and had a 40-12 record, including two conference titles. At James Madison, he would join the most well-resourced program in the league, which is playing for its first Sun Belt title this weekend.
According to On3's Pete Nakos, Lehigh coach Kevin Cahill is also a potential target for the Dukes.
Napier's time in Gainesville didn't go as planned, as he exited with a losing record in less than four seasons. However, he's won in the Sun Belt in the past, and it seems the 46-year-old could land on his feet at one of the top programs in the Group of Five.
