The next widespread snow system should be Michigan’s first Alberta Clipper type snowstorm. Alberta Clipper’s have their own personality.
While it’s still five to six days from now, the next snowy period is showing up on all of the weather models we use for a week out into the future. What I’m calling a snowy period could be two storm systems, or those two storms could merge into one storm system.
Either way, with one storm or two, Michigan should get some widespread, accumulating snow next Tuesday and Wednesday.
An Alberta Clipper snow system usually is a colder, drier snow that blows around easily. Since the storm comes out of cold Canada, it doesn’t usually have a lot of moisture and no snow amounts higher than six inches. Most of the accumulations range between two inches and five in
