Lorilee Davies is the Regina Police Service’s new permanent police chief, the Regina Board of Police Commissioners announced on Thursday.
Davies is the first female police chief in Saskatchewan history. She first joined the RPS in 1996, and has served as both a uniformed police officer and a member of the investigative divisions.
“I’m beyond humbled, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” Davies said at the announcement ceremony. “I’m committed to guiding and leading in ways that espouse professional, respectful service.”
Davies had been acting chief since former police chief Farooq Sheikh was suspended from the position in April. Sheikh was officially terminated in late October after Saskatchewan’s Public Complaints Commission found he had engaged in inappropriate conduct.
