COLUMBUS, Ohio — New housing data suggests the Columbus-area real estate market could cool slightly in 2026, even as prices continue to climb.
Realtor.com is projecting home sales in the region could fall by about 2% next year. While fewer homes may change hands, those that do are expected to cost more — a trend some buyers say is keeping them on the sidelines.
Zach Carlson, who rents in the Brewery District, said he would like to buy a home but can’t make the finances work right now.
“I rent in the south side of Columbus, Brewery District,” Carlson said. “I've kind of, you know, put that on hold for the time being, just market and my own expenses.”
