The UK Government ’s long-awaited child poverty strategy will “deliver the largest reduction in child poverty since records began”, Labour ministers have promised.
However, charities say the long-delayed plan may not go far enough, with one leading campaigner criticising the lack of "ambitious targets".
Much of what is in the strategy has already been announced, including a hike to the National Living Wage, the ending of the two-child cap, and the scrapping of the energy company obligation scheme, which should see energy bills fall.

It will also include an above-inflation increase to the standard allowance in universal credit, worth around £725 annually in cash terms for a single parent aged 25 or over, or around £1,135 for a couple with children by 2029/30.
