LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is investigating after two officers fatally shot a suspect in Hurstbourne Acres on Thursday.

According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 9000 block of Red Deer Circle, which is just off Taylorsville Road, around 1:30 p.m.

An LMPD spokesperson said a caller had reported a shirtless man pointed a gun at a woman.

Officers on scene later found a man who matched the suspect's description and was armed with a gun.

The spokesperson said officers told the man to put the weapon down, adding that two officers fired their weapons at the man.

Officers tried to provide aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
