NEW ORLEANS (KTRE) — A federal appeals court issued a ruling that means SFA will not have to reinstate certain women’s sports teams while a lawsuit is pending.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated an injunction issued by the district court that had ordered SFA to reinstate women’s bowling, women’s golf and beach volleyball until the Title IX lawsuit was resolved.
The case will now go back to district court for further proceedings.
In the ruling, the court said the injunction did not provide enough detail.
“The injunction at issue fails to meet these standards. By requiring SFA simply to ‘preserve’ the three women’s teams at issue, without further elaboration, the injunction does not inform SFA in reasonable detail what it must do,” the opinion said. “For instance, the women’s
