QUEBEC — The Liberal Party of Quebec has dropped the MNA for Chomedey, Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, from its caucus pending the results of an investigation by the legislature’s ethics commissioner.

In a statement on Thursday, Liberal party whip Marc Tanguay said excluding Lakhoyan Olivier from the caucus was necessary following the decision by the commissioner.

In a separate statement, Anne-Sophie St-Gelais, communications officer for the commissioner, confirmed an investigation has been opened in connection with possible breaches of Article 36 of the code of ethics for elected officials.

The commission is seeking to determine if the MNA “used or allowed use of state resources at the disposal of her riding for partisan purposes during the Quebec Liberal Party leadership race.”
