The Pirates have made their first major move of the offseason, acquiring top-100 prospect Jhostynxon Garcia and pitcher Jesus Travioso from the Red Sox for right-hander Johan Oviedo, catching prospect Adonys Guzman and left-hander Tyler Samaniego, a source told the Post-Gazette.

Garcia is the headliner of the deal and could slot in as the Pirates’ opening day left fielder. Nicknamed “The Password” due to his hard-to-spell first name, the 22-year-old outfielder is Boston’s No. 3 prospect and No. 85 overall. He made his major league debut in 2025, though he appeared in just five games due to the Red Sox’s significant outfield depth.

Garcia batted .267 with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Wooster with 21 homers, 75 RBIs and an .810 OPS.
