WEST VALLEY CITY — Two staff members were injured by an Academy Park Elementary student on Thursday, a spokesperson for Granite School District said.

Luke Allen, Associate Director of Communications for Granite School District, said the incident happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. He said a student was having a “hard day” and was acting aggressively toward teachers.

Allen said the student left the school, and two staff members went to try to get him back inside. While doing that, they were both hurt. Allen said they had minor injuries that were potentially caused by a rock, but an investigation is ongoing.

Operations at the school were not impacted, Allen said. It was not immediately clear if the student was taken into custody.
