President Donald Trump ordered flags to be flown at half staff on Thursday in honor of the National Guard member who was killed in a shooting last week.

In a memo on Thursday, Trump lowered the White House American flag in honor of Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, who died on Nov. 27, the day after she was shot in Washington, D.C.

All other federal flags were ordered to be lowered until sunset Thursday and embassy across the world will be lowered for the same duration.

“As a mark of respect for the memory of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, West Virginia Army National Guard, by the power vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United Staes of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff,” the memo read.
