KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. — A Knightstown resident got out of their burning home thanks to the effort of a good Samaritan Thursday morning.
According to the Knightstown Wayne Township Fire Department, the fire broke out in a home in the 400 block of North Washington Street shortly after 7 a.m. on Dec. 4. A passerby saw smoke coming from the home and alerted firefighters.
Firefighters say before crews arrived, the good Samaritan knocked on the door of the home to alert the person inside. That person was then able to get out of the home safely. Two other people who live in the residence were not home at the time of the fire.
One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, the fire department said. No firefighters were injured.
