The Abilene Cowgirls and Cowboys both opened the new basketball season with a pair of efficient wins on the road over the Holton Wildcats on Tuesday night.
In the opener, new Cowgirls head coach Ryan Perkins earned his first victory at Abilene with a 48-41 win. The Cowgirls were led by sophomore Tessa Herrman who finished with a game high 18 points.
In the final game of the evening, the Cowboys used a solid defensive effort to earn a 69-48 victory over the Wildcats. Sophomore Kolt Becker opened the season with a new career high 29 points to lead Abilene on the night. Senior returning starter Taygen Funston also contributed with a new career high of 15 points in the game.
