NEW ORLEANS —
The Department of Homeland Security has announced the first arrests in its immigration operation in New Orleans.
According to DHS , in the first 24 hours of the "Catahoula Crunch," federal agents have detained immigrants accused of homicide, sexual assault, and kidnapping. Advertisement
The total number of arrests was not disclosed in the news release issued by DHS.
DHS did list the following arrests, noting prior convictions:
Binh Van To, of Vietnam, was convicted of robbery, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, homicide, and aggravated assault.
Hung Ngoc Tran, of Vietnam, was issued a final order of removal in 2010. Tran was convicted of sexual assault, larceny, and fondling a child.
Carlos Roberto Guardado-Ramirez, of Honduras, was arrested for sim
