CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank says its GivingTuesday campaign will provide 869,723 meals to individuals and families across the region, thanks to community donations and matching gifts from two local families.

The nonprofit announced the results on Wednesday, noting that the support comes at a critical time. Recent government challenges, including a shutdown and cuts to SNAP benefits, have made it harder for many Virginians to afford essentials.
