PEQUAYWAN TOWNSHIP, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A homeowner suffered smoke inhalation when his home went up in flames north of Duluth Thursday night.
It happened around 7 p.m. at a home on Pequaywan Township.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a homeowner called 911 to report a fire first discovered near a wood burning stove in the basement.
He and his two dogs made it out in time, but not before the man suffered some smoke inhalation.
Medical crews were assessing him.
Authorities say the home suffered heavy damage and the owner is staying with family for now.
Six fire departments and an ambulance crew responded.
