SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Augustana men’s basketball team made a statement on Thursday night, knocking off NSIC preseason favorite Southwest Minnesota State 97-75 inside the Elmen Center.
The Vikings (4-3 overall, 2-0 NSIC) lit the net on fire, knocking down 60.7 percent of their shots from the field while going 17 of 24 from deep.
The defense held their own, forcing the Mustangs (2-4, 1-1) to 39.0 percent shooting.
Tameron Ferguson recorded his second double-double in the last three games, scoring 26 points on 12 of 13 shooting while dishing 11 assists.
Tanner Te Slaa added 19 points while knocking down 6 of 7 from deep and San Rensch scored 17 points and tied for a team-high with six rebounds.
After a Mustang layup opened the scoring, the Viking offense got rolling.
