The Lehigh University women’s wrestling team’s debut at Grace Hall wasn’t just a triumph on the scoreboard.

Yes, the Mountain Hawks handled Delaware State 33-14 and then East Stroudsburg University 27-17 Thursday evening.

But the home crowd that showed up, especially for the second match against the Warriors, showed that the first-year program has a bright future.

“You always hear so much about Lehigh wrestling and the ‘Snake Pit,’ it was just such an awesome experience to put on the singlet and walk out here on the mat with so many people in the stands,” said Lehigh sophomore Audrey Jimenez, who was the first Mountain Hawk to win in the victory over ESU. “It was so much fun, I didn’t imagine it would be this great -- it exceeded my expectations. It was really awesome.”
