Meghan Markle has faced fierce criticism over her treatment of her father following his emergency hospitalisation. Thomas Markle senior, 81, is now "stable" but remains in intensive care after undergoing a three-hour operation.

He was rushed to hospital following an emergency at his home on the island of Cebu, more than 7,000 miles from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Montecito, California residence.
