Northern boys wrestling lost just three matches in the meet and defeated Mechanicsburg 51-14 in its season opener Thursday.

Brayden Slugg started with a second-period fall over Alexander Arauco at 172 pounds. Jadon Niner defeated Jacob Kuhn in a third-period fall at 189 pounds to add to the Polar Bears’ lead.

Mechanicsburg picked up back-to-back wins when Talan Verdelli beat Logan Rose in a first-period fall at 215 pounds, and Will Metallo squeaked out a 1-0 decision over Jorge Castillo at 285 pounds.
