The top performing grammar and comprehensive schools in the UK have been crowned in a new league table.

Rankings in the prestigious Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026 were awarded based on exam performance in summer 2025, with Grammar Queen Elizabeth's School in Barnet climbing up a place to take the top spot for all state schools .

Meanwhile, Dame Alice Owen’s School in Potters Bar has been ranked number one this year for comprehensives in the South East and the UK as a whole.

Comprehensive schools accept any student regardless of academic ability, where all students are taught together. State schools, such as grammars, can be selective of students that attend.
