TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that shut down all northbound lanes of Thomasville Road just south of Iamonia Cut-Off Road on Thursday.

Troopers say the crash happened around 9 p.m., when a 2014 BMW SUV traveling south in the northbound lane of State Road 61 collided head-on with a 2020 BMW sedan traveling north.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene by Leon County EMS. The driver of the sedan was taken to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert and remains in critical condition.

Traffic homicide investigators with FHP Troop H are leading the investigation. Next-of-kin notification is still pending.
