BOSTON — The Blues were expecting Morgan Geekie to shoot when Boston entered the zone on the rush early in the first period.
And why not? The Bruins forward is second in the NHL with 21 goals. When he shoots good things often happen.
So four St. Louis players moved toward Geekie as he skated in down the left wing.
Geekie had a shooting lane, but he saw Alex Steeves coming through the right wing circle alone. He slid the puck across and Steeves blasted a shot past Jordan Binnington.
The goal, which came 6:30 into the game, set the tone for the Bruins’ decisive 5-2 victory on Thursday at TD Garden.
Steeves pumped his fist excitedly.
