Death Valley National Park has experienced record-breaking rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.
The park measured 2.41 inches of rain between September and November, the wettest fall on record. November alone saw 1.76 inches, breaking the previous record of 1.70 inches set in 1923.
The fall storms brought more rain than Death Valley typically receives in an entire year.
At Badwater Basin, which lies 282 feet below sea level and is the lowest point in North America, rainwater has formed a shallow lake. The lake, colloquially known as "Lake Manly," is much smaller and shallower than the one that formed after the remnants of Hurricane Hilary passed through the park in 2024.
