WHEN Luke O'Nien returned to the Anfield dressing room after making his Premier League debut for Sunderland, he was greeted by a message on his phone.
It was from Gordon Bartlett.
Bartlett was O'Nien's manager at Wealdstone, the non-league club he joined on loan before making his professional breakthrough with Wycombe Wanderers.
It was a reminder - not that one was needed for the 31-year-old - of how far he's come.
His phone then started ringing. It was a Facetime call and at the other end of the line was his wife, who had been watching at home with his children.
"She said my kids were jumping up and down when I came on, so it's very special," said an emotional O'Nien.
