Edinburgh Airport has shut down flights this morning following a massive IT outage . This leaves flights grounded on the tarmac and thousands of travellers stranded.

In a post on the Airport's X (formerly Twitter) account, it states, " Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider , no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport. Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible.

"We will provide updates when possible - please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight."

Sky News understands there is "no current timeframe for recovery" for the IT issues. The airport alerted people of the issues at 9:29 am this morning.
